Blackstrat Ventures LLP / India

Operators who build.

We take on complex operating problems — the kind that need a model before they need software — then build the system that puts the answer in front of the person deciding.

Consulting & client builds / Products & apps / Studio & capital

01 / What we do

Analysis and engineering, from the same bench.

Most firms will model your problem or build your software. The gap between those two is where projects die. We do both, with the same people.

01

Applied problem solving

Operations research, optimisation, simulation and forecasting. Scheduling, routing, network design, capacity and inventory policy, blending and allocation. The work starts with the constraint, not the tooling.

02

Consulting

Operating diagnostics and a plan someone can actually execute. We work inside the operation — process, data, numbers — and hand back decisions rather than a deck.

03

Product builds

Custom software, designed and shipped by the people who did the analysis. Planning and scheduling systems, decision tools, analytics, and advisor- or agent-facing applications.

04

Studio and capital

Where a build repeats across an industry, we productise it and stand it up on its own. Selective early-stage investment where we can add operating help, not only money.

02 / The model

One bench, four stages.

The firm is built to compound: client work funds products, products become companies, companies return capital. Each stage pays for the next.

  1. 01

    Client builds

Bespoke analysis and systems, senior-led and priced to stand on their own from day one. This is the working end of the firm, and it stays that way.

  2. 02

    Products

When the same engine ships twice, it becomes a product — licensed, documented, maintained. Planning engines, decision tools and applications that outgrow a single client.

  3. 03

    Spin-outs

A product that needs its own capital and team gets its own company. The partnership holds equity; operators run it.

  4. 04

    Capital

Selective early-stage positions, taken where our operating help is worth more than the cheque.

03 / Where we work

Industry-agnostic, problem-specific.

The mathematics of a scheduling problem does not care what the factory makes. We go where the problem is hard and the data is real.

Supply chain & logistics

Network design, inventory policy, distribution planning, routing and fleet utilisation.

Manufacturing & production

Materials planning, production scheduling, capacity balancing and job costing.

Power & energy

Generation and load planning, dispatch economics, control-room operations, outage and maintenance scheduling.

International trade

Landed-cost modelling, sourcing decisions, documentation and compliance workflow.

Financial & wealth planning

Goal-based planning engines, cash-flow projection, scenario and Monte Carlo simulation built for use in front of a client.

Capital markets & funds

Mutual fund and equity investment tooling, portfolio analytics, research and reporting workflow.

Insurance distribution

Advisor and agent tools: needs analysis, illustration engines, and wealth simulations run live in front of a customer.

Distribution side only

Agriculture & agri-supply

Procurement and pricing models, yield and demand forecasting, traceability across the chain.

Distributed ledger

Settlement, provenance and traceability — where a ledger genuinely solves the trust problem, and not otherwise.

04 / How we work

Five commitments, made before the work starts.

The constraint first

We find what actually binds before proposing what to build. Most operating problems are mis-stated long before they are mis-solved, and a clean statement of the constraint is usually worth more than the model that follows it.

Senior hands, small teams

The people who scope the work do the work. No pyramid, no handover to a team you have not met.

Tooling compresses the build

Modern tooling lets a small team ship what used to take a large one. It compresses the build; it does not replace the thinking, and we do not price it as though it did.

Fixed scope, fixed price

Signed before work starts. You know the number and the date, and changes are priced openly rather than absorbed into a running meter.

You own the deliverable

Your code, your data, your accounts. Generic engines and components stay ours to reuse; what we build for you is yours, and it is written into every engagement.

05 / The firm

A partnership, deliberately small.

Blackstrat Ventures is a limited liability partnership based in India, run by its two designated partners. Between them: operating and P&L responsibility in heavy industry and financial services, a business-unit turnaround, control-room and plant operations, and two decades of building and deploying enterprise software.

We take on a limited number of engagements at a time, because the model only works if the partners are on the work. If we are not the right firm for a problem, we will say so early and, where we can, point you to someone better placed.
